Echoes of Shannon Street is a true crime police procedural that recounts the January 1983 kidnapping of two Memphis Police Officers by men whose religious leader preached from the old testament. A thirty hour siege ensued that left one officer critically wounded, one officer dead and seven suspects shot to death by the departments tactical unit.

 Officer Robert Sterling "Bobby" Hester was beaten almost continously for over six hours his cries for God, his wife, mother and for fellow officers to help him broadcast over his portable radio held in the hands of one of the seven suspects so all officers on the scene could hear his agonizing screams. His merciful death came twenty-fours before the tactical unit was allowed to storm the house.
